About Trevi
Trevi is only one
kilometer away from our holiday farmhouse "Fiordaliso".
The broad expanse of olive trees is the scenery which accompanies
the slopes around Trevi situated on a hill overlooking the
Spoleto plain.
The surroundings of Trevi are famous for the
highly esteemed olive-growings, due to the quality of the
ground on which the olive trees are planted, as well as for
its vineyards and its wine production, especially of the Trebbiano
wine.
Trevi has maintained its mediaeval
style offering well conserved constructions and charming angles.
The Cathedral of S. Emiliano keeps part of the original Romanesque
construction (12th century), inside is the altar of the Sacrament,
an elegant work of Rocco da Vicenza (1522). The Gothic Church
of S. Francesco dates back to the 13th century; inside there
are frescos created in the 14th and 15th century. The picture
gallery shows a valuable collection of Umbrian paintings.
Trevi is certainly one of the most characteristic towns in
Umbria for its panoramic and picturesque position and its
history rich in events. In 1784 Trevi received the title of
town conferred by Pope Pio XI.
In the south between Trevi
and our holiday farmhouse "Fiordaliso", there is
the Renaissance Church of S. Maria delle Lacrime where you
will find the last painting of Perugino (1522), its "Adoration
of the Three Kings of Orient with Sts. Peter and Paul".
In Borgo Trevi you can visit the Church of S. Vincenzo Ferreri,
whereas the Church of S. Maria in Pietrarossa with frescos
of the 14th century is near the main road Via Flaminia towards
Foligno.
